My Take on SoulCycle

I just returned from my first SoulCycle experience at Soul West Village and have to admit that I feel great, absolutely exhausted, but great! While striving to achieve a healthy work-life balance, I was always looking to workout more often (who doesn’t, right?), and more importantly on a consistent basis. I would never come up with the energy to workout by myself.

So a couple of months ago I discovered the Niketown Running Club and would run in Central Park twice a week. I was fascinated by the encouraging feeling of running in a group, and by being pushed to do more by the fellow runners. I recently moved from Midtown to West Village, further away from Niketown, and with it the original excitement to commit myself to run weekly started fading away.

Until I passed by SoulCycle on Leroy Street with my fiance last week, and as we heard about it before we stepped in and got ourselves free passes for one class, and finally ended up attending it today. In addition to the free passes we received special SoulCycle shoes, complimentary water, and a personalized introduction by one of the instructors. As we walked into the SoulCycle room filled with about 50 bikes, we could already feel the energy and it became very clear to me that this would be a different experience. Once the lights went off, loud music went on (the kind of music that would make you want to dance in a club), and the instructor filled with electrifying energy would cycle on a lighted platform and give instructions. Seeing an entire room of 50 people SoulCycle simultaneously to one rhythm was most inspiring and inciting. The class lasts for about 45 minutes and is anything else but an easy ride, and more a full body work out. It helps you switch off from a busy day at work, and fills you with an unmatched boost of energy.

Check out the SoulCycle Studio in the Village and ask for a free pass, and I guarantee you a memorable experience. Passes run at 34 USD per class, but the experience is definitely of value.

I believe SoulCycle to be so popular because you achieve more, push yourself to succeed and accomplish all that with a group of people, as a team… and it’s a lot of fun as well! Unlike going to the gym and striving for more by yourself, you’ve got a passionate leader and a room full of energized followers helping you reach your potential.
