No matter if you are working in a hotel or are a frequent traveller chances are that you asked or heard this question over and over again. Many times it’s the question asked most upon check-out and your way out of the hotel.

But does it trigger the desired outcome? It definitely has the right intention of ensuring that your guests had a flawless stay at your property. But unfortunately too many times a good intention is just the opposite of good.

Asking your guests how they enjoyed their stay at your property only triggers them to think of all the experiences that happened throughout their stay again, and mostly the ones that could have been better… after all you want to give honest feedback when asked for it.

But since the last impression of the hotel stay is lasting, you don’t want it to be a negative one as it would stay most vividly with your guests and will not be helpful when being asked to fill in a satisfaction survey.

So what would be a better way to end this interaction?

What did you enjoy most about your stay?

This not only forces your guests to think about something positive, it also guarantees that your guests depart from your hotel with a positive memory and feeling.

Question: What are other ways to influence your guests to fill in surveys positively with communication?
